In order to be effective, an Induction Programme should include an introduction to the organisation, its values, culture, people and organisational working practices.  Typically other things which are incorporated into the programme are building or office tours, Health & Safety and any regulatory training, company policies, team and management introductions and key stakeholder 121’s to name just a few.

It is important to tailor the induction programme to meet their specific needs and time-frames of employment, for example:

  • New full or part-time staff / employees
  • Contractors
  • Employees or staff on secondment or job swap to another part of the organisation
  • Temporary staff
  • Internal promotions

In addition to the above, ensuring the programme is also tailored towards the role and the level the role sits within the organisation is also vital as all roles will have differing requirements within the induction programme.

How you deliver the induction will depend on many circumstances but it is important to ensure you cover as much as you can within the programme to give the colleague the best possible chance of being successful in their role and they have the right support in place.
